(fg) Jewellery, gold and cash were stolen by brazen scammers from a pensioner on Bethnal Green Street on Friday afternoon. The crooks called the woman several times on Friday and pretended that the victim’s daughter had caused an accident with a fatal outcome. A prison sentence for the daughter can only be averted with a correspondingly high bail. The elderly woman packed up her savings and handed over the valuable jewellery, money and gold to a 30 to 35-year-old collector on Bethnal Green Street around 5 p.m. The dark blonde woman was about 1.70 meters tall, wore dark clothes and black boots. The picker is said to have driven up in a taxi. After the assets were handed over, the stranger got back into the taxi and drove away. The criminal police in Offenbach have started the investigation and are now asking for information about this woman on 069 8098-1234.
Law enforcement officials point out once again that the real police never ask for cash or valuables over the phone. The officials therefore advise:
- Be skeptical when on the phone claiming an emergency
of an acquaintance or relative is described and you go to
surrender of assets will be requested. understand
If in doubt, call the police yourself. - Take the time to verify callers’ details.
A healthy distrust of the callers is not
Rudeness. - Since the victims are mostly elderly people should
Family members warn of the dangers of such phone calls
to draw attention. - You can get more helpful prevention tips from the

Who can provide information about a fire in an apartment building? – Hanau
(fg) After the fire in a stairwell of an apartment building in Lamboystraße (20th house number), the criminal police assumed arson to be the cause. On Saturday morning, around 5.30 a.m., the fire brigade and police responded to the reported fire. Bicycles were apparently set on fire in the stairwell there; the fire on the wheels also caused property damage to the residential property. Overall, the damage caused is estimated at around 40,000 euros. A local resident was taken to a hospital for further treatment with suspected throat gas intoxication. (fg) A fine of 700 euros, two points in the driving aptitude register and a three-month driving ban can be expected for a 19-year-old Offenbacher who was clearly too fast on Sunday afternoon on the federal highway 43a between the Hanau-Wolfgang junction and Hanau-Hauptbahnhof. Officials from the Langenselbold police motorway station were deployed in a civilian patrol car (ProViDa), which is equipped with special video technology to record speed and other traffic violations. At around 1:25 p.m., the civil patrol was initially on the Autobahn 66 in the direction of Frankfurt. Shortly before the Hanauer Kreuz, a black Mercedes CLS 500 caught the attention of the vehicle in front of it and thus apparently fell short of the distance to it. The patrol car then sat behind the Mercedes, which continued to drive on federal highway 43a in the direction of Dieburg. The speed is limited to 100 kilometers per hour between the Hanau-Wolfgang junctions and Hanau main station. Since the car was obviously traveling too fast, the officials carried out a speed measurement, which, after deducting the tolerance, resulted in a reproachable speed of 217 kilometers per hour. The 19-year-old, who was then stopped and checked, exceeded the permitted speed by 117 kilometers per hour. During the check, the officials also found that the Offenbacher had only had a driver’s license for around six months. The responsible driver’s license office was informed of the speed violation. In addition to the fine, the driving ban and the points in the driving aptitude register, there will probably also be a corresponding advanced seminar.

At around 8:10 p.m., two male perpetrators, who were estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old and were described as around 1.80 meters tall with a normal stature, first entered the sales area of a gas station on Eugen-Kaiser-Strasse and demanded a knife from the employee Cash. However, the employee was able to scare the bandits away so that they fled without having achieved anything. A quarter of an hour later, the same perpetrators, both wearing a hooded jacket and surgical mask, presumably attacked a gas station on Konrad-Adenauer-Allee. While one of the two robbers stayed in the entrance area of the sales room, the other threatened the employee with a knife. The strangers fled with their booty. A police helicopter was also used as part of the intensive search measures. The Hanau Criminal Police Department takes tips on 06181 100-123.
