New Year’s Eve is approaching and traditional celebrations and gatherings are again marked by the pandemic. Due to the latest resolutions, meetings in public are only possible to a limited extent and so this year there is again a ban on selling and burning firecrackers and New Year’s rockets.

So that the people in the region of the Southeast Hesse police headquarters can safely celebrate the turn of the year, we will be on duty with many officers and focus our measures on compliance with the existing Corona regulations. We will show a greater presence in close coordination with the responsible regulatory authorities, especially at locations with a high audience. We will keep an eye on pedestrian zones, parks, parking lots and popular meeting places. Our goal is to react quickly and appropriately to violations and other situations across the board in order to ensure the safety of people.

In particular, we ask you to observe the following rules. Contacts: Due to the contact restrictions in force since December 28, 2021, a maximum of ten people may meet in public space (this also applies to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered). If an unvaccinated or unrecovered person is present at a meeting in public space, the following applies: Only your own household plus a maximum of two people from another household. Exceptions apply to children and adolescents under 14 years of age and to people who cannot be vaccinated. In principle, everyone is required to wear a mask even outdoors if minimum distances cannot be maintained.

Fireworks ban: In many cities and municipalities in our area of responsibility, the firing of firecrackers and rockets (from category F2) in typically heavily frequented locations was prohibited by general decree on December 31 and January 1. Where exactly the ban on firecrackers applies can be found on the website of the City of Offenbach, from Offenbach district and des Main-Kinzig districtcan be read.

In the event of violations of the Corona rules, which are by no means petty offenses and can result in high fines, we will intervene consistently and at the same time pursue a communicative approach: The emergency services first seek a conversation with the aim of convincing and inspecting people raise awareness. If someone fails to understand, the police will take further action. In addition to an advertisement, this can also be a dismissal or, for example, securing fireworks.

This procedure has already proven itself in the past. We therefore appeal to the citizens to show solidarity around the turn of the year and to celebrate peacefully in a small group. Stay cool and stick to the rules! Protect yourself and others! The Police Headquarters in Southeast Hesse wishes you a happy and, above all, safe New Year.
