Cyclists are exempt from the decision. According to the ordinance, the municipalities and districts are obliged by the state to “adapt the mask requirement to the local conditions and to specifically name where the minimum distance is generally not to be observed”, it says as a reason. So far, the mask requirement in public spaces only applied at bus stops.

In the city center between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. between Luisenstraße, Berliner Straße, Herrnstraße, Mainstraße, Karlstraße and Bismarckstraße, mouth and nose protection must be worn.
