The “HfG-Interventions # 2” started in Offenbach, in Frankfurt the decentralized exhibition starts on Monday.

How can we still make the work of the students accessible despite the corona crisis? ”This question had been an urgent question at Offenbach University of Design (HfG) since spring – especially since the university tour had to be canceled this year due to Corona, which is otherwise a retrospective of the student body serves.

A solution was found in cooperation with the Ströer company, which markets advertising space in public spaces. From this week until September 28, HfG art can be seen on around 540 such spaces in Offenbach and Frankfurt.

Art instead of consumption

“HfG-Interventions” is the name of the open-air exhibition, the first part of which ran in summer. Because: The 300 works created by around 120 students do not advertise the consumption of anything, but serve as free spaces for illustration and film stills, typography and graphic design, for painting, photography and drawing. “They initiate thoughts that go beyond the everyday and draw attention to the unfamiliar,” says the HfG.

You can either come across the posters by chance or scroll through them in a targeted manner – maps of the exhibition locations can be found on the Internet. Probably the largest concentration of posters is on the fence of the former Toys-R-Us complex on Berliner Straße in Offenbach: HfG posters are lined up over a length of 180 meters – some of them can be experienced digitally again using an app, others invite you to be “supplemented” with pens in the same way.
