Off-road truck on Hardangervidda – yellow hazard warning for snow – VG

OFF-ROAD: On Tuesday an unfortunate truck driver ended up on the flat.

A yellow warning has been issued for snow and snowdrifts in some parts of the country. Norwegian Road Traffic Center asks people to remember winter tires.

On Tuesday morning a truck crashed in Hardangervidda.

A passerby says that VG has been in contact with. He describes the path as smooth as a mirror.

The police have not been notified and operations manager Erik Ullhaug Olsen says the police would like to be notified in the event of a traffic accident.

– We have not received any reports of difficult driving conditions, nor have we been informed of any other incidents, he summarizes.

The operations manager is however aware that the good old mantra of driving on conditions is still valid.

The local newspaper Hallingdølen writes that the recovery of the truck is in progress.

Yellow Danger Warning

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow hazard warning for the snow cover in the mountains due to strong westerly winds and snow showers above 800-1000 meters.

Snow showers are expected mainly in the western mountainous areas.

SNOW JACK: A yellow danger warning for snow jocks has been issued in this area.

There is also a yellow warning for snow on the Møre and Romsdal mountains and southern Trøndelag.

In the notice they advise to allow some extra time for transport and driving, use the right tires and drive according to the conditions.

– Some journeys may have a longer travel time. There may be difficult driving conditions locally. Snow in the mountains gives reduced visibility and the possibility of driving convoys and / or closed roads, they write.

– Beginning to move towards winter

The Trollstigen on provincial road 63 is open again after its closure closed last night due to the weather.

The Vegtrafikksentralen in the center, however, has a clear message for those thinking about the street:

– It is snowing a lot in the area – winter tires must be used here when passing!

The Geiranger-Langvatn section on the same provincial road is still closed due to bad weather.

– It is starting to turn into winter in the central region, summarizes traffic operator Stian Gullvåg at Vegtrafikksentralen central.

Nor was he informed of any incidents or incidents on Tuesday. No complaints for bad driving either.

– We talked to the contractor who covers the Trollstigen and says it snows well and is suitable for winter. Winter tires are therefore necessary if you intend to drive up there now, says Gullvåg.
