Off and on weather this week. But at the weekend it can be quite a blast in Southern and Eastern Norway.

Off-and-on weather. That’s the watchword for the weather this week, across the country. But towards the weekend, all you have to do is have your sunbed ready in Eastern and Southern Norway.

Relax, summer is not over. There will be sunny and swimming weather for the weekend in Southern and Eastern Norway.

– It’s unsettled weather, it changes and it turns, says state meteorologist on duty Bente Wahl at the Meteorological Institute.

The first part of the week is characterized by low pressure activity. In Southern and Eastern Norway, there will be precipitation in the afternoon tomorrow and unsafe for showers on Wednesday and Thursday.

A yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in the west of Agder and south of Rogaland.

In Western Norway and in Trøndelag, the unsettled weather will last through the weekend and the start of next week. In the north, too, there will be “lots of” weather and coolness ahead. Low pressures come and go.

End up at just over 20 degrees

– But a high pressure is starting to build up over Great Britain that is pushing north. On Friday and at the weekend, it looks good in Southern and Eastern Norway, Wahl promises.

– It won’t be super hot, not above normal, but we’ll probably manage a little over 20 degrees. With the help of the sun, it can be 22-23 degrees, she says.

The meteorologist does not dare to issue warnings for anything longer than the weekend.

– Isn’t it the case, then, that when the joint holiday is over and the start of school approaches, the good weather will arrive?

– We can perhaps imagine that, but we also don’t have the same requirements for the weather until August, she believes.

Lots of showers and on-and-off weather in Norway now, but state meteorologist Bente Wahl thinks it looks pretty good for the weekend in southern and eastern Norway.

Chose to keep forest fire warning

Despite the rainfall that has come, there is still a yellow forest fire warning in Eastern Norway and for parts of Agder. There are large local differences in how much rain has fallen, and it has rained less west than east of Oslo. Therefore, the notice will remain in place for at least one more day.

Twitter Publish

– It was very, very dry in July in Eastern Norway. At some weather stations in Viken, Vestfold and Telemark, it has not rained a drop, the state meteorologist points out.

Although it is wet on the surface, it is dry down in the soil. As a result, it can easily catch fire and forest fires can spread over large areas.
