OFC: Breitenbach looking for form – Garcia comes from Mannheim

Jayson Breitenbach, the new right-back of the regional soccer division Kickers Offenbach, has not yet convinced. The OFC has now finally separated from its predecessor, but an experienced player came for the offensive.

Offenbach – First a failed pass into the opponent’s feet, then a lost duel at the center line and finally a foul that resulted in a yellow card: This scene from the 87th minute was symptomatic of the appearance of Kickers Offenbach’s access Jayson Breitenbach in the 1: 2 (1: 0) home defeat against SSV Ulm in 1846.

It was a used day for the OFC in general and the right-back in particular. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old answered questions from media representatives after the game.

“We slacked off after the 1-0 win. Ulm deserved to win “, said Breitenbach and went into the error analysis:” We weren’t close enough to man and the balls didn’t arrive. “That was especially true for himself. The native of Gelnhausen, who once played in the OFC youth had and had returned to the Bieberer Berg before the season via the stations FSV Mainz 05 (U17 to U23) and 1.FC Saarbrücken (24 third division appearances), started properly. When Ulm’s pressure increased after the Offenbach leadership, he became more and more insecure. Breitenbach was not alone in this, but the false pass rate was very high for him – and Tunay Deniz -. Both goals were also initiated on his side.

Coach Sreto Ristic admitted that the kickers on the right had “general problems” and “no access”, but refrained from individual criticism. He must first watch the game on video. The analysis partially relieves Breitenbach. Before the 1-1 draw, he gave his opponent a bit of space. The crucial mistake, however, made the front man Christian Stark, who doubled unnecessarily. Niclas Jann ran into the open space behind the two OFC players, received the ball and fit into the middle, where Tobias Rühle only had to hold out his foot. Before the 1: 2, Offenbach’s remaining defense with Breitenbach and Marcos were unhappy, but received little support. Deniz had to rush to the right after his intercepted free kick from the left and was played out. Pass in the interface between Breitenbach and Marcos, laid across, gate.

Even if the right-back is not directly to blame for the goals against, the impression remains that he has arrived the least of the three approaches that have always been in the starting XI. However, it is sometimes more difficult for defensive players to get used to it than for offensive players. Breitenbach is the only new part in the back four and also has to coordinate with the man in front of him. He’s had three so far: Serkan Firat, Lucas Hermes, and Stark. Perhaps that is why Ristic decided against changing this position against Ulm. He might have dismantled the new one and started a discussion in the surrounding area about the meaning of Marco Fritscher’s removal from the boat.

The patience with Breitenbach is understandable because at the age of 23 he is still part of the “Youngster” group at OFC. On the other hand: You expect a little more from a former U-national player with experience in the third division, especially when it comes to handling the ball. So, of course, the question arises as to whether a change in this position might not make sense. Especially since the OFC has an experienced player up his sleeve in Maik Vetter, who was one of the regulars last season under Ristic as a right-back when he was not injured.

Vetter was featured 22 times in the past season, not a second in the current round. This constellation is not unusual for the blonde, who embodies the kickers virtues such as fight and commitment like no other player. Year after year the question arises where Vetter will have his place. So far he has always found it – also because of its versatility. The 29-year-old has played everything at OFC – except goalkeeper. Ristic always used him on the right in defense, also in the fifth to last game of last season in the 4: 2 against FC Rot-Weiß Koblenz (the football division of the gymnastics and sports friends was outsourced this year), in which the OFC on Saturday (2 p.m.) is a guest.

The trained defensive player Vetter is a reliable defender who likes to march with the ball at his feet. Breitenbach prefers the passing game. But it was precisely on this point that he finally revealed most of the weaknesses. (By Christian Düncher)

OFC picks up Garcia and delivers Fritscher

Coming and going at Kickers Offenbach: Late on Monday afternoon, the regional soccer division announced the termination of the contract with right-back Marco Fritscher (26). Only 45 minutes later, the OFC announced the commitment of Rafael García (27, most recently Waldhof Mannheim). The German-Spaniard can be used flexibly on the offensive, but prefers to play outside, the OFC said. Coach Sreto Ristic and managing director Thomas Sobotzik know Garcia from Chemnitzer FC. Together they rose to the 3rd division. There he scored eleven goals in 74 games and prepared nine. There are also 188 regional league games (36 goals, 40 assists).
