Cap-Haïtien, August 28, 2024.- Indeed, this new building is designed to serve the insured as well as the uninsured. It cost the Haitian state more than 200 million gourdes. This structure has 20 modern rooms.
In his speech, OFATMA’s Director General, Carl François, expressed his gratitude to the OFATMA teams. He indicated that the inauguration of this premises is a sign of hope and renewal for the institution which is celebrating its 57th anniversary on August 28.
“Despite the difficulties the country is experiencing, there are opportunities to achieve important things. This is only the first part of the construction of the hospital, which will eventually include 60 rooms. We are inaugurating the first 20 rooms and the various services that will be offered, not only to the insured but also to the population,” said the director. “In this perspective, the medical management has the great responsibility of operating this hospital and maintaining the quality of service to the insured. Moreover, this hospital was financed from the contributions of the insured,” he continued.
He announced very soon the inauguration of the central office of the institution, the completion of construction work on the OFATMA hospital in Les Cayes with around a hundred rooms, as well as the construction of a hospital at the Caracol Industrial Park.
For his part, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Georges Wilbert Franck, invites the staff to maintain the hospital in all its beauty and to work to provide quality care. He also promises the establishment of a supervision, monitoring and evaluation arrangement to maintain the standard of the hospital.
Finally, Patrick Almonor, representative of the Cap-Haïtien city hall, congratulated the OFATMA team for the construction of this hospital center. “This commendable initiative deserves to be applauded. This is the type of leadership, professionalism that we are looking for in the public sector: dreamers, visionaries and initiators, who not only have the spirit but also the sense of creativity,” he said. “Today, with the construction of this modern hospital center, the public can compete with the private in terms of availability of health services. The inauguration of this hospital coincides directly with the vision that the Capoise municipality is selling, at a time when the north is considered a destination. Therefore, health management must be a priority; we cannot talk about a destination if there is no hospital capable of receiving a tourist in the event of a possible illness,” continued Mr. Almonor. He hopes that the quality of service will meet established international standards.
It is worth noting that the ceremony took place in the presence of executives and other members of the city’s medical profession.
