Several testers, including Frandroid’s editorial staff, were confronted with a somewhat worrying problem with the S22 Ultra’s screen.

Usually, when we test devices, it is not uncommon for us to discover after the publication of the test that some users have encountered major problems, without this having happened to us during our own experience with the product. That’s the game, one batch of phone can have a problem while the rest of the production doesn’t. With the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra test, it’s a bit the opposite.
When a gray bar started to settle in the middle of the screen when I was watching video content on YouTube and Netflix, it was impossible to know if this was an isolated case or not. Unfortunately, it looks like we are not alone.
The forum is agitated
On the Samsung forum, various users are complaining about the same problem. FFFan for example writes: “I have a problem with my S22 Ultra, a band of pixels like on an old cathode-ray television only when I watch a video”.
Another, Alexl02 also mentions it: “I received the S22 Ultra today and I see a problem on the screen when unlocking or watching Netflix or any other streaming video. »
What could this be due to?
Whether for the two users mentioned above or for yours truly, the problem seems to occur when using the screen in WQHD+. What to think that the screen manages this definition more difficult than Full HD +. It would be quite a disappointment for what is, without it, one of the best screens on the market.
Initially, we thought it could be a hardware problem, but it is true that after a complete reset of the phone, or even a restart, the problem tends to disappear. We can therefore hope for a possible resolution after an update. This would prevent buyers who have put a minimum wage in a smartphone from ending up with a gray bar in the middle of the screen when they want to take advantage of it.
Contacted on this subject, Samsung had not yet been able to comment on the problem at the time of publication of this article.
