Revitalizing a city center continues to be a daily battle. A full-time occupation entrusted to the Office of the commerce but also to the municipality, whose objective is to replenish the pedestrian plateau with living commercial cells. The task is difficult, as everywhere in the medium-sized towns of France and Navarre. She takes time. Sometimes requires long negotiations with the owners of aging buildings, no longer sticking to the requirements of the moment.
In Thionville, the two main arteries of the center, rue de Paris and rue du Luxembourg, have seen or will see the arrival of new brands. We take stock, in a context where the commercial vacancy rate fell from 11.4% to 10.3% in April.
Rue de Paris first. Let’s talk about a wart. Nothing is clearly defined for the time being, of course, but the Lion brothers buildings, belonging to two owners, are finally about to be officially sold (150 m² commercial space on the ground floor). Opposite, the Kids en scène brand, a concept store dedicated to children (games and clothing), now replaces Morgan. The arrival of Starbucks is confirmed for June. Work is well underway in other buildings as well. This augurs well for new locations to be marketed. Note that not far from there, Place de la République, the former Chinese restaurant will soon offer a themed restaurant.

End of a story… that of the Jost bakery
At the crossroads of the two main streets, Place Anne-Grommerch, on the ground floor of the former Schmitt block, Basic Fit and its 1,300 m² dedicated to sport will open in June. The floors will be available for the acquisition of apartments. Not far from there, the Havas travel agency has just taken over the premises of the Arcades pharmacy, which moved a few weeks ago.
Rue du Luxembourg is also on the move. Already, the Luxembourg café is going to expand its space thanks to the acquisition of the neighboring cell, which has been abandoned for years. A high-end burger catering offer is expected in place of Collignon.
Still in the heart of the city, rue de l’Ancien Hôpital, a store dedicated to household equipment will take place opposite La Scatola. A Romanian grocery store has raised the curtain next to the Ti Resto. burnt street, a second Retoucherie Carole is in operation, with Passion Déco as its neighbor.

Two things to finish. One with a touch of nostalgia, with the cessation of activity of a famous institution, the Jost bakery. And another more gourmet, with the takeover of the restaurant Chez Christiane, now Polette.
