Official description (by Marvelous Europe and Just For Games):

« Developed by Edelweiss, the two-member team behind the infamous Astebreed, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin blends side-scrolling action with a deep farming simulation and crafting system. Players take on the role of Sakuna, a spoiled harvest goddess banished to a dangerous island with a group of humans also ostracized from society. By exploring the beautiful and hostile environments of the island, she will have to find her place in a mountain village, finally proving herself worthy of her title of goddess by harvesting rice and improving the lives of men.

About Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin:

In the opulent heavenly capital of Lofty Realm, spoiled harvest goddess Sakuna leads a life of luxury, resting on the laurels of her late parents. Further down in the Lowly Realm, a cruel mountain bandit pursues a group of desperate humans to the edge of a cliff. A bridge between the two realms appears, and this is where Sakuna crosses the path of the “children of men”.

In the ensuing turmoil, the Goddess and the lost mortals cause a great explosion which causes them to suffer the wrath of the Heavenly Ruler, Lady Kamuhitsuki. The latter exiles them to the island of Hinoe, a mysterious place bordering the earth and the sky where Sakuna’s parents lived a long time ago, and orders them to take back the island of Demons the aptly named from the clutches of a monstrous horde.

Daughter of a warrior god and a harvest goddess, Sakuna will regain her birthrights in this untamed wilderness by resisting the elements, fighting monsters and cultivating the soil. And by aiding their Immortal Protector, the humans banished with her can still find the reason for living that was stolen from them in the war-torn Lowly Realm. Together, these unlikely companions must join forces to tame both the land and the demons of Hinoe Island.

Main features:

– Refined side-scrolling platform game: Using farming tools as weapons, chain together quick, heavy, and special attacks to take out demonic beasts. Mastering the magical “divine raiment” will be essential in reaching distant platforms, escaping danger, and defeating powerful enemies.
