The first reactions to Ready Player Two are in. Writer Ernest Cline released the sequel to his popular 2011 book earlier this week, and fans instantly dived into it. And there are quite a few of them, especially after the release of the movie Ready Player One.
Some fans are really, really excited about it Ready Player Two, not others. A lot of reactions seem to come down mainly to criticism of the story. That would repeat too much of what we already saw in the first part. In this second book, Wade also goes hunting for James Halliday Easter eggs. So this second book is in principle a repetition of the first part.
Is it something?
We read a lot of critical reactions from fans on social media. For example, some write to think that Ernest Cline did not write the book at all (“he just does whatever”) and some think that it should have been much more than it was.
In fact, some fans even seem to think that this sequel was only written so that a second movie can be made. We know from Cline that he is completely happy with a sequel, but of course it seems very far-fetched that he would write such a book for that reason alone.

I genuinely thought you’ve made this up to goof on this book, but this is actual content? Wtf

Did he just let autocomplete write his whole book?

I’ve agonised for weeks if I didn’t feel something I wrote was up to snuff. This is an author who is not only published, he is so widely read that fucking Spielberg adapted his book, and he is just saying names of things.

Wait. This is a joke, right? Please tell me you made all these screen grabs up, because I’m genuinely falling for it.
