ODOL Trucks Damage Toll Roads, the State Loss IDR 1 Trillion Every Year

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Truck presence over load over dimension (ODOL) causes the state to suffer a loss of IDR 1 trillion per year due to having to repair the surface toll road the damaged one.

Head of Governing Body Toll road (BPJT) Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Danang Parikesit said this in a webinar Infrastructure for IndonesiaWednesday (2/3/2022).

“If on the road toll our estimate, at least conservative number (at least in conservative figures) we are IDR 1 trillion per year,” explained Danang.

In response to this phenomenon, Ministry of PUPR in collaboration with Ministry of Communications (Kemenhub) in detecting ODOL vehicles through technology Weigh in Motion (WIM).

Currently, WIM technology for controlling ODOL vehicles has begun to be tested in Indonesia Toll Tangerang-Peacock.

ODOL control will use scanner dimensions mounted on cameras and measuring scales on the road.

That way, the weight of the vehicle can still be measured while the vehicle is still running.

Danang said that the PUPR Ministry is committed to continuously improving the quality of toll road infrastructure in order to create maximum service to the community.

Improving toll road services is not only limited to achieving minimum service standards (SPM).

However, it also improves the quality of toll road services in a sustainable manner in line with the increasing needs and demands of the community.

In the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, toll road corporations focus on 3 strategies, namely cost leadership (cost leadership), revenue enhancement (increase in income), and cash management (payment management).
