Odisha Train Accident: CBI Arrests Railway Officials for Involuntary Manslaughter

Bhubaneswar: The CBI has arrested three people in the accident that killed 293 people in Odisha’s Balasore. Railway officials were arrested. They have been arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter. CBI alleges criminal conspiracy behind accident Rejected.

Senior Section Engineer Arun Kumar Mohanta, Section Engineer Muhammad Amir Khan and Technician Pappu Kumar have been arrested. The reports indicate that it is clear from the investigation that the mistake in the work of these three led to the accident.

The Railway Safety Commissioner’s investigation found that the accident was due to human error. The cause of the accident is said to be a mistake on the part of the staff of the signaling and operations department. The Commissioner’s report rules out the possibilities of sabotage, technical failure and machine failure.

Chennai-Coromandel Express, goods train and Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast were involved in an accident on June 2. More than a thousand people were injured.
