You might think the Normal family is a normal family. Norma and Norman Normal live on Normal Street in Normal-Ville, work normally, read the newspaper, take care of their 2.4 children, their dog and their goldfish… except that they are cartoons! They look normal, but they never get old, feel pain, die…every morning a new episode starts and it all starts over.
All of this was normal, until the day Baby and Jimmy, the last two children in the family, drink one of the potions brought back by Norma, their mother, a great scientist. Baby becomes invisible and Jimmy begins to change: he grows up, he suffers, he is… human! Drawn into a series of adventures, each one more improbable than the next, and shaken up by the arrival of Craig – the neighborhood bully – in Jimmy’s life, the Normal family will have to choose: stay cartoons, or agree to live, feel and die in the end.
With this piece, Mike Kenny reaches the height of his art: with sharp precision, to a furious rhythm, linking with the humor that we know him the most incredible situations, he questions us about normality but above all about our desire to live. At the service of the text: magic, sounds, lights, puppets, video… a moving and whirling show for everyone from 7 years old!
CARTOON or don’t try this at home!
