Odell Beckham Jr. comes off the Miami Dolphins’ injured list

Miami Gardens. The Miami Dolphins activated Odell Beckham Jr. from the list of physically incapable players on Saturday, leaving the door open for the veteran receiver to make his season debut on Sunday against New England.

Beckham signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in May, but missed the first four games of the season with what he described as a “little cleanup” on his knee in the preseason.

He said making the roster wasn’t what he wanted, but in the end he made the best decision for the team.

“For me it was an act of generosity,” Beckham noted, “because if I’m not on the list, I’m using a spot on the roster and this means I’m taking someone else’s spot and I’m not doing anything. “It’s not a good feeling.”

He practiced for the first time Thursday and hopes to be ready to help give Miami’s troubled offense a boost.

The Dolphins average 11.3 points per game, the worst mark in the NFL, adding 187.3 yards through the air per game and 97.8 yards on the ground. Four different quarterbacks have called plays due to injuries.

Beckham, three times elected Pro Bowl and Super Bowl champion with the Los Angeles Rams said it was difficult for him to see the Dolphins struggling.

“I’d rather see us at 4-0 right now,” he said, “and then I’m like, ‘Oh, I can’t wait to be in,’ rather than where we are right now and I feel like I should have been out there battling them whether it’s winning. , losing or drawing.”

Coach Mike McDaniel commented that Beckham looked good in training.

“It was exciting to see him operate on offense,” McDaniel said Friday. “He did a good job yesterday, he looked good. For me, as a third-year coach, I calm my excitement. I try to see how it feels and how it looks today after a little bit of work and then be responsible for the team.”

McDaniel indicated that Beckham will likely have a limited role on Sunday and the load will increase for the next game. The Dolphins have a week off after the game against the Patriots and before traveling to face the Colts.

The Dolphins also re-signed quarterback Tim Boyle to the practice squad and promoted him along with cornerback Nick Needham to the active squad. Cornerback Cam Smith was ruled out.
