The national team’s press manager Svein Graff confirms to VG that Martin Ødegaard’s second coronate test was negative. The 21-year-old received the answer to the test on Wednesday morning. A third test will be taken.

Tuesday night reported several Spanish newspapers that Martin Ødegaard had taken a positive coronate test after the 0-0 match against Real Sociedad. The Norwegian is said to have been the only player who received a positive result after the routine test after the match.

The positive test led to all players having to be tested again on Tuesday afternoon.

Now both the club and the national team’s press manager Svein Graff report that Ødegaard’s second test was negative.

– I can confirm that test two is negative. It was taken yesterday and Martin got the answer early today. Routinely, a further test will now be taken, Graff says to VG – and adds that this is done by representatives of La Liga.

There were also no other Real Madrid players who tested positive. The squad is scheduled to train at 12.30 today.

VG has spoken with Marca journalist José Félix Díaz who says that Ødegaard must now wait for his second negative test result before he can return to training.

On Sunday, Ødegaard got his first minutes from the start for Real Madrid in La Liga. He was substituted after 69 minutes. See the highlights from the match here:

The news that Ødegaard should have tested positive for the virus came just 16 days before Norway plays the decisive playoff match in the European Championship qualifiers against Serbia. Ødegaard has struggled with a knee injury for a while, and was over the previous two international matches. Now, in all probability, the 21-year-old will be ready for the important match.

Spain is among the countries in the world that have a rising infection trend, according to VG’s corona special.

On Monday 21 September, Spain registered 31,428 new cases of infection. This is the highest number in a day so far.

VG updates the case.
