See Ødegaard make penalties at the top!
Martin Ødegaard and co. had taken the trip from North to South London in search of new points in the battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Unfortunately for The Gunners, they simply became bird food for hungry eagles.
Jean-Phillipe Mateta headed The Eagles in the lead after a set piece, before Jordan Ayew made it 2-0 for the home side after 24 minutes.
The pain got worse after the break. Ødegaard first missed a big chance midway through the second half before he kicked Wilfried Zaha into his own box a few minutes later. Penalty to Palace and 0-3 in the bag.
– It is disappointing, a terrible match by us from start to finish. It may have been better the last ten minutes, but all in all it was a very poor performance, says Martin Ødegaard to Sky Sports.
– We must learn from this and make sure it does not happen again. We have played well lately, and this is the first time in a long time that we play so poorly, the Drammen player adds.
Ødegaard: – A terrible match

Arteta: – Deserves a slap in the face
Mikel Arteta was very disappointed after the match.
– We have to accept it. First we have to congratulate Crystal Palace. We were not screwed. We started too bad, we were number two on everything. We can not play like this in the Premier League, says the Arsenal coach after the game.
– We deserve a slap in the face after tonight, he added.
When asked by TV 2 about Martin Ødegaard’s less fortunate match, Arteta answers:
– When we play as we did in the first round, we see how difficult it can be for players like him. In the second round, when he is in the rooms he should be, he affects the match much more, says the Arsenal coach.
