The bodies of an octogenarian mother and her daughter were found charred in their burnt-out pavilion in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) on Friday evening, the day after an attempted intrusion, AFP learned Sunday from a police source and the Bobigny prosecutor’s office.
According to a police source, the fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. in this pavilion in Aulnay-sous-Bois, a commune in Seine-Saint-Denis located northeast of Paris.
The 84-year-old mother and her 48-year-old daughter died there, according to the same source.
Causes that remain to be defined
The day before, an attempt to break into the pavilion had taken place, the Bobigny prosecutor’s office told AFP, confirming information from the Parisian.
An investigation for “search for the causes of death” was opened and entrusted to the judicial police service of the department, in particular in charge of criminal investigations.
“We are not certain that it is criminal but we cannot exclude it. We cannot close any hypothesis, there is investigation work and two dead people, ”explained the prosecution about the referral to the judicial police.
The causes of the fire have not yet been identified and the autopsy on the charred bodies took place over the weekend.
