Although the number of corona infections is increasing, few people are still dying from the virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) thinks that will change. “October and November will be very difficult.”
That says WHO regional director Hans Kluge in an interview with AFP. It is the result of a resurgence of the virus almost everywhere in Europe. A vaccine will not immediately be the solution. “I keep hearing: the vaccine will be the end of the epidemic. Of course not!” says Kluge.
“We don’t even know if the vaccine will be effective for the entire population. Some signs currently indicate that it will work for some, but not others, ”stressed the WHO director. “And if we suddenly have to order different vaccines, it becomes a logistical nightmare.”
Research of more than 8,000 British doctors further shows that nearly 90 percent are counting on a second wave in the next six months. According to them, the failing source and contact investigation (just like here) is the main cause that the number of infections gets out of hand again.
