Researcher Octavian Jurma spoke, at the Politician’s File, about the fourth wave of the pandemic, but especially about the importance of raising awareness of the danger of the SARS-CoV-2 Delta strain, which is becoming more and more widespread in Europe.
“If wave four is accompanied by a wave of deaths, it will be extremely expensive. Let’s not forget that we have two components of the pandemic, we have the wave of infections (…), but also a very aggressive strain, which is much more infectious than the British strain and causes a more serious clinical picture.
It also affects young people, so it will affect them more emotionally. This disease can only be prevented by vaccination. We know that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine are protective even against the Delta strain (…) Unfortunately, only 30% of the vulnerable population was vaccinated in Romania “, explained the researcher Octavian Jurma, on B1 TV.
