OCHA: Nearly 900,000 Venezuelans received humanitarian aid in the first quarter of 2023

A total of 892,000 people received some type of humanitarian aid in the first three months of this year in Venezuela, reported the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) of the United Nations (UN).

“The humanitarian response is present in 282 municipalities in 24 states of Venezuela”the organization pointed out through Twitter, where it shared a document that gives details of the assistance provided in the first three months.

Some 485,000 people received some help related to health, while 171,000 were benefited in terms of water, sanitation and hygiene and 39,000 in the area of ​​nutritionexplains the letter in which it is noted that there are people who receive more than one form of assistance.

A total of 118 organizations -local and international NGOs, as well as United Nations agencies- implemented humanitarian projects in the first quarter, reaching 892,000 people, 17% of the goal set by the UN of 5.2 million beneficiaries for this year.

The UN received, last year, 309.6 million dollars for humanitarian aid in Venezuelawhich represents the 38.9% of the funds it required in 2022, estimated at about $795 millionamount with which assistance programs were financed for 2,800,000 people with urgent needs.
