Océane Ayala, an Ajaccienne qualified for the European University Championship

She had to leave the federal system for her studies. Océane Ayala started combat sports at the age of 12, at Aiacciu Kick Boxing. At 18, she left Corsica to settle in Aix-en-Provence, where she began her psychology studies at the University of Aix-Marseille. Left for five years with a view to a master’s degree, she competed in the French university championship of Kickboxing-MuayThai, organized last weekend under the aegis of the FFSU and the FFKMDA.

“She made three fights in the weekend before losing in the final against a world champion, Émeline Thomas, who was in the France team, says Bernard, his father. She was still very proud to fall against a world champion and to bow after a split decision (two judges designated the champion of France, another Océane).

Crowned university vice-champion, Océane is also awarded an individual distinction. “Her commitment and her qualities as a boxer earned her the trophy for best technician in this competition, proudly says the dad. This rewards the performance that the athlete was able to demonstrate both in his technical gestures and in his fair play. All shots must be precise, determined.”

A gratification which prompted the deputy national director of the French University Sports Federation to choose her to compete in the European University Championship, which will take place from July 20 to 24, 2023 in Zagreb (Croatia). Until then, the young Ajaccienne will take part in the regional university boxing championship in Nice on March 9.
