Occupation of ABP pension fund office over, twenty activists arrested

About 25 activists occupied the head office of the ABP pension fund in the Zuidas today. They want ABP to stop investing in oil companies. The action has ended after intervention of the ME. Twenty arrests have been made.

The demonstrators are members of the civil servants and education pension fund ABP. They campaigned under the banner of climate action group Extinction Rebellion.

The police asked the activists three times to leave the building, but they did not comply. The riot police then arrived on the scene and all those present were arrested for breaking the peace. The Public Prosecution Service determines the further handling.

It is not the first time that ABP’s head office has been occupied: Extinction Rebellion, for example, already did that in July. At that time, activists were also arrested.
