SOUTHERN BREISGAU
Success in music graduation
Five students from the youth music school in Sdlicher Breisgau recently passed their practical Abitur examination in instrumental playing with great success. They each had to perform three pieces from three different eras and give a ten-minute lecture on the pieces. “I was allowed to choose two of the pieces myself, one was specified and was communicated eight weeks before the test,” says Carla Stfken. She plays the clarinet, attends the Friedrich-Gymnasium in Freiburg and was graded with a straight one. Carla Stfken has been taking clarinet lessons with Nicola Miorada from the youth music school in Sdlicher Breisgau since she was eight years old. “Mr. Miorada prepared me very well, above all he took the stress off me, because I’m often very excited,” says the student, who lives in Au. Carla’s mother, Jona Stfken, emphasizes the very trusting relationship with the clarinet teacher that her daughter has built up. “Student and teacher are a well-established team. We parents knew that he would take good care of her.” “The great successes in the music Abitur prove the high quality of the music lessons at the youth music school in Sdlicher Breisgau. Successful professional musicians and music students come from our youth music school again and again,” says music school director Joachim Baar. Although Carla Stfken had flirted with studying music in the past, she now wants to study medicine.
BAD KROZINGEN-SCHLATT
Music club on the way
At 6 a.m. the night’s sleep was over: with Mailied, traditional marches and polkas, the bright musicians from Schlatt marched through the village early in the morning on May 1st and welcomed the merry month of May. At numerous stations in the Bad Krozinger district, people stopped, played music, drank and ate. You can hear more from the Musikverein Schlatt on June 25th at the annual concert in the Quellenhalle.
The tradition of the Maiwecken was also revived in many other places in southern Breisgau, for example in Staufen, where the town music was on the road, or in the core town of Bad Krozingen, where the parish band welcomed spring.
ST. MARGARET STAUFEN
Successful fair
In the most beautiful May weather, the St. Margareten nursing home in Staufen held a fair for the residents in its own garden. Thanks to the falling number of infections in the country and the currently applicable Corona Ordinance for nursing homes, such events are now possible again. In addition to fresh bread, residents could try their luck at various throwing games, fishing or the wheel of fortune. Thanks to many donations from shops in downtown Staufen, there were lots of great prizes to be won. There was a lot of activity and the residents clearly enjoyed the gathering after long, quiet months.
