THE Zeljko Obradovic he made it clear that “big budgets don’t always win the Euroleague”, while also referring to the occasional comments and reports that he always coached the teams with the biggest “bank” in Europe.
“One year I coached the team with the biggest budget and then never again. This is a story being told and I have no problem with that. It’s easy to go and search the internet. When someone tries to prove something, they can’t, it looks like they are lying. When a lie is repeated 500 times, then it is easier for everyone. Not to mention the propaganda”said the 64-year-old coach – legend of Partizan in an interview in Euronews.
“To play in the Euroleague, you have to pay. A good basketball player costs one or two million euros. Budgets don’t play basketball, of course, and the teams with the biggest budgets don’t always win the EuroLeague. In this sense, I believe that Red Star and Partizan can do a lot,” Zots noted afterwards, commenting on the efforts of the two representatives of Serbia in the Euroleague.
