The ICT Cluster Catalunya Sud was born in 2014 from the hand of the main technological companies in the territory with a clear objective: to enhance these companies and their partners, establishing new collaboration and project synergies, thus allowing to attract and retain the human talent that exists in the demarcation of Tarragona.
From the outset, this association has met with the enormous competition, in terms of technology companies, from the city of Barcelona. That is why its president, Pablo Monzón, recognizes that one of the strategies of the cluster is “trying to attract these workers who are perhaps a little saturated in Barcelona, playing our cards as: good communications, quality of life, costs of minor lives, etc. ».
To start this line of work, from the TIC Catalunya Sud Cluster they have concluded that “people who work in the technology sector in Barcelona, sooner or later, will rethink their way of life and think of returning to Reus, Tarragona or this area. We cannot compete with BCN in salaries, but we can compete in quality of life. The good news is that the Covid-19 health crisis has given this theory more strength. ”
The diversity of companies associated with this cluster is encompassed within a technological ecosystem where companies coexist, both producers of technology and consumers of technology. Natural synergies that have allowed this association to evolve positively in recent years.
As a whole, the partner companies in the cluster represent a direct turnover of more than 1,000 million euros, giving direct work to 1,500 workers.
