Object found in search for missing Sumanta Bansi | NOW

The police have found an object in the investigation of the missing student Sumanta Bansi. On Monday, the Hulk recreation area in Scharwoude (North Holland) was searched.

The object has been secured and will be investigated, the police say.

The 22-year-old pregnant woman suddenly disappeared in 2018. The police is assuming a crime because, among other things, her bank cards, passport and social media accounts have not been used since February of that year.

The police previously thought that her body was buried in the Robbenoordbos, in the head of North Holland. Multiple searches in this large forest have not yet led to the find of Bansi.

In November, the police made three arrests in the case: a 40-year-old man from Hoorn, his 63-year-old father and a 34-year-old cousin from Rijswijk. The man from Hoorn is still under suspicion of involvement in Bansi’s disappearance.
