Obi-Wan Kenobi: Is there a 2nd season on Disney+?

In May 2022, a new Star Wars series called “Obi-Wan Kenobi” started on Disney Plus. In the meantime, all episodes of the first season have appeared on the streaming service and can be viewed there.

What is Obi-Kenobi about?

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is primarily about the character Obi-Wan, who lives as a veteran Jedi Master on the planet Tattoine. There he will be in a dangerous mission involved, which leads him to other planets and clashes with the Inquisitors of the Empire.

He always manages to escape from them, but an adversary still stands in his way: Darth Vader, who is also his former student Anakin Skywalker. Even if there doesn’t seem to be much left of this person. In a final fight, the question is who is really to blame for the fate of the other.

Is Obi-Wan Kenobi getting a second season?

So far, Obi-Wan Kenobi is only planned as a miniseries. It means that only one season intended to tell the full story.

The President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, but raised some hope in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Everyone involved was said to have had so much fun making the series that they would be more than happy to return for another season.

But she also emphasizes that this is only in the case of a very good idea would happen, which would have to justify why Obi-Wan’s story isn’t over after all. In any case, no such decision has been announced so far.

What’s next after Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1?

Should there be another season of “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, we might see more of his life on the desert planet of Tattoine. There is also his former master, Qui-Gon Jinnback in the game and could guide him.

Also Luke Skywalker could then play a bigger role as this one came relatively briefly in the first season compared to his sister Leia. However, this will probably not meet Obi-Wan again, since she is out of danger and only asks for Obi-Wan’s help again in the film series.
