The headmaster Alexander Begert has said goodbye to the Ministry of Culture from one day to the next. He had only been in office for 13 months. This came as a complete surprise to the school community and parents at the Oberursel high school.
Oberurssel -The Oberursel High School (GO) finally has a new management again, the GO said happily in a statement at the beginning of September last year. Dr. Alexander Begert was introduced into their respective positions as the new headmaster and Philipp Schefzyk as his deputy. But all of a sudden it’s over again. Begert announced in writing to all “parents and legal guardians” on Monday, September 30th that he would no longer be headmaster on Tuesday, October 1st, but would instead be moving to the Hessian Ministry for Culture, Education and Opportunities (HMKB). He said he would be involved in the “Values Transfer Initiative” there. Literally: “Unfortunately I have to inform you that the school management is once again not fully staffed at GO. After only 13 months as your headmaster, the Ministry of Culture, Education and Opportunities gave me new opportunities and with it a great personal opportunity. In the future, I will support the ‘Initiative for Transferring Values’ at HMKB with my expertise. For this purpose, I will be seconded to the ministry full-time from tomorrow (October 1st). Whether I will return to the GO is completely uncertain at this point. (…),” Begert announced to the obviously completely surprised school community and parents. “I wish you and your children all the best for the future.”
There was no comment from the GO yesterday. “We can’t say anything, there are discussions,” the secretariat said when asked, referring to next week.
The school parents’ council also seems to be completely out of the blue: “We are still assessing the situation and information and are closely involved in the current events that are now taking place, which is currently taking up a lot of our time. If we recognize the need to provide information about this, we will come back to it in due course,” said Stefanie Linder from the board of the GO school parents’ council in response to a TZ request. Beate Rebstock, head of the state school office in Bad Vilbel responsible for the Hochtaunus and Wetterau district, refers to the Ministry of Culture. This, in turn, is also buttoned up: “Dr. Since October 1, 2024, Begert has taken the opportunity to support the Hessian Ministry of Culture, Education and Opportunities with his expertise in current projects, for example in the state-wide initiative to convey values. The school is temporarily managed by the deputy, Mr. Schefzyk,” is the dry information from Wiesbaden. In recent years, the management of the GO has repeatedly been temporary and provisional. Now it could take months, if not years, until a new school management is found. yeah
