Last week, the students of the Oberlin high school, accompanied by their teachers, (Ms. David and Ms. Da Cruz) went to the Meinau distribution center.
Once there, the students prepared and set up their stand in order to offer each family books for their children, chocolate boxes (financed and made by the students and their teachers) and a Christmas decoration.
At the same time, the students were able to observe how food aid is distributed within the association and discover how the volunteers work.
The 12 students prepare a diploma – in one year – to then work with families or elderly or disabled people and promote their maintenance at home. This experience allowed them to reveal their altruism and empathy, essential qualities in their future profession.
The words heard
“I felt compassion for the beneficiaries,” explains one of the students, “I put myself in their shoes and I liked the fact that there are associations like this one that help so many people. I find that great. “
“I enjoyed interacting with people and despite their difficulties, some keep smiling,” adds another.
“I remember that we must all be united,” said another student. “We realized the kindness and empathy of the volunteers towards the people helped,” said another student.
“Help and please those in need, bring them joy and see them smile”… This is what came out of this good deed.
