ÖBB: Complete closure along the Deutsche Eck between Kufstein and Salzburg

Construction work at Deutsches Eck: new movements and traffic in ÖBB long-distance traffic.

KUFSTEINSALZBURG. Due to construction work by Deutsche Bahn InfraGO AG, the railway line over the Deutsche Eck is completely closed. The important link between Salzburg and Kufstein will be closed from Friday, October 25, 11pm until Monday, November 4, 2024, 4am. This leads to extensive transmission and rail renewal services on ÖBB’s long-distance transport.

Detour, no stop in Kufstein

During the closure, all trains between Munich and Vienna will be rerouted via Passau. The trains stop in Passau, but not in Salzburg. For connections between Vienna and Zurich there will be a diversion via Bischofshofen with additional stops in Bischofshofen and Schwarzach-St. Veit, while the stop in Kufstein is omitted. These changes will extend journey times by up to two hours. Passengers to and from Kufstein can change to new railway buses (SEV) between Salzburg and Kufstein.
An SEV with buses will be established between Vienna and Bregenz for the Railjets on the route Salzburg – Wörgl here too, passengers should plan for longer travel times. Trains from Carinthia and Styria to Germany via the Tauern line only run to Salzburg and start there, as the German part of the route is closed.

Additional restrictions

There are already restrictions due to the construction work that is going on. Trains between Vienna and Munich will be routed via Passau, with the possibility of boarding and disembarking in Passau. There is no stop in Salzburg and the travel time is extended. Additionally, the RJX 62 and RJX 65 trains are no longer available.
ÖBB asks all passengers to understand the inconvenience and recommends that they find out about the current timetables in advance and plan more time for their journeys. More information is available on the website www.oebb.at or through the Scotty app.
