The former president gave his speech at a so-called drive-in rally, where interested parties listen from or near their car in a large parking lot. At the Democratic convention, Obama previously expressed support for Biden in a virtual speech, this time addressing his audience directly on location.
‘Only helps herself’
“I never thought Donald Trump would pursue my vision or policy, but I was hoping for the country that he would take the office seriously,” Obama said. He has not shown any interest in helping anyone other than himself and his friends.
The former president also attacked Trump over his approach to the coronavirus, which has now claimed 221,000 lives in the United States. “The number of infections has been rising again in recent days,” he said. “And Donald Trump isn’t going to protect us. He’s not even doing the simplest things to protect himself.”

According to Obama, Trump has abandoned his countrymen by dawdling with a new package of aid. He would only take good care of himself and the rich. “Apparently he even does business with China and appears to have a secret bank account there. Can you imagine I would have? They called me Beijing Barry.”
In his speech, Obama called on Americans to use early voting. In the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, where he spoke last night, he explained where voters can apply for a postal ballot. “What we do in the next 13 days is decisive for the coming decades.”
Admiration for Biden
Obama said that during his presidency he “came to admire Biden as someone who treats everyone with dignity and respect” and called him “a friend of working people.” “He has made me a better president and has the character and experience to make this a better country,” Obama said. “Biden will protect this country from all threats, foreign, domestic and microscopic.”
Tonight, Trump and Biden will face each other for the last time in a debate before the November 3 election.
