On Monday, the four-day Democratic National Convention began in Chicago, where Vice President Kamala Harris became the official candidate for the November presidential election. The party celebrates her unexpected arrival in a grand manner, and more than a political convention, the event resembles a huge TV show. After Joe Biden withdrew from the election, American celebrities also came to support her.

A song instead of a vote

The most important part of the party convention is the confirmation of Kamala Harris as a candidate for the US president. Although the current vice president did not officially run in the primaries and there was a threat of a big political fight waiting for her at the convention, she quickly gained support after the resignation of President Joe Biden. It was already clear before the event that she had enough votes to become the Democratic nominee.

Delegates from each American state made a spectacular show of voting. Celebrities often announced official support for Harris. The politician was supported, for example, by Sean Astin, known from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, or Eva Longoria, star of the Desperate Housewives series. But the biggest stir was caused by the state of Georgia, whose official voting began with the performance of rapper Lil Jon and the song Turn Down for What.
