OB Wiegand defends himself against reports – you are Halle

A report by the State Audit Office of Saxony-Anhalt from 2017 is currently in the media again. There is also a reference to the currently suspended Lord Mayor Bernd Wiegand. The Court of Auditors’ report refers to the time before Wiegand took office, and it was reported on it four years ago.

The aim should be to present the mayor negatively in public and to justify lengthy investigations by the state administration office, says Wiegand of the recent reports. This is seen as a “tried and tested means to de facto remove an independent mayor from office who was confirmed in office by the citizens with a large majority.”

A few days ago, the state administration office of Saxony-Anhalt announced that the disciplinary proceedings against Wiegand will be expanded further. Wiegand is said to have violated collective bargaining and budgetary regulations with one of his personnel. Specifically, this is about today’s City Museum director Jane Unger. Wiegand had removed them from the personnel office and transferred them to the museum. It has kept its E15 classification.

Wiegand’s lawyer Dr. Michael Moeskes explains: “The new allegations from 2013 are also without substance. Like the other subsequent allegations, they do not meet any criteria. The political motivation in this approach is obvious. “
