In collaboration with the state of Lower Austria, the ÖAMTC supports numerous communities with bicycle repair stations in order to strengthen the regional infrastructure for cyclists.
Small service work possible
There is now also such an ÖAMTC bicycle base in Steinabrückl: The 1.4 meter high service station in Wassergasse (corner of Hauptstrasse), along the Piestingtal cycle and hiking path, has a practical suspension device for bicycles and is equipped with compressed air and all kinds of tools, such as Allen keys or wrenches. Minor aches and pains on the bike can be repaired quickly and easily at any time.
“The ÖAMTC bicycle base offers cyclists the opportunity to service their bikes quickly and easily – another important measure to make our cycling infrastructure more attractive,” says Gustav Glöckler, mayor of the market town of Wöllersdorf-Steinabrückl, together with the family-friendly team Community – CEO Florian Pfaffelmaier and youth councilor Wolfgang Gaupmann.
ÖAMTC offers roadside assistance for cyclists
Walter Schmitl, ÖAMTC base manager in Wiener Neustadt, adds: “If the air runs out or everything is no longer running smoothly, our wheel repair column can provide quick relief. This means that cyclists can repair minor breakdowns themselves – without any complicated detours or costs.” Schmitl also advises: “If you can’t fix a breakdown on your bike yourself – simply request help via the emergency number 120 or the ÖAMTC app and our breakdown drivers will of course help you out.”
The ÖAMTC bicycle bases are an extension of the wide range of club services for cyclists: These include free bicycle checks, bicycle service and checking of used e-bike batteries at the ÖAMTC bases, mobile breakdown assistance for Cyclists, free e-bike courses in numerous communities or the diverse range of bicycles in the ÖAMTC shops at the bases.
