Oakland Police establish a “Safe Exchange Zone” to buy, sell or exchange goods

The Oakland Police Department is promoting its “Safe Exchange Zone,” where people can gather to buy, sell or exchange goods with strangers.

The area outside the headquarters, at Area 455 7th Street in Oakland, is intended to be a way for people to feel confident that any purchase or sale is coordinated over the Internet or other remote exchange.
