Cartagena de Indias DT and C., August 13, 2024. The Disaster Risk Management Advisory Office of the Cartagena District (OAGRD) informs the community that, although Tropical Storm Ernesto, currently located over the Lesser Antilles, will not directly impact our city, adverse weather conditions are likely to occur in the coming days.
According to the latest reports issued by the United States Hurricane Center (NHC), the storm, which evolved from Potential Tropical Cyclone Five, is moving north without fully entering the Caribbean Sea. Its direct effects will not be felt in Colombia, including Cartagena.
However, large parts of the city are expected to experience partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies, with scattered light showers possible. These conditions, while not severe, require citizens to maintain caution, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides.
It is important to note that there are no tropical waves registered near the national territory, which reduces the risk of major impacts. The OAGRD will continue to monitor the situation and keep the population informed of any changes in weather conditions.
We call on the community to stay informed through official channels and to follow the recommendations of the authorities to ensure their safety.
