Most people I know buy their computer accessories based on their brand. Of course, this could be for a simple reason like liking the design of these things or just having a good experience with them, which are of course perfectly valid reasons. For myself, I just focus on what feels and works best, but at the same time, it’s hard to know for sure because you can hardly buy every mouse on the market and try them all. That’s why testing can serve a purpose, or if you do something old-fashioned like go to a store and actually squeeze them, which doesn’t happen with all the online shopping today.
Then comes the next “question”. I think, in many cases, tech gadgets are things that you need to try and live with for a longer time before you really get used to them. At the same time, you learn to like what you have for a while and use it a lot. You just get used to it. First impressions can change, rooms you don’t like can become habits, etc.
When I try out a new mouse, I compare it to the two stalwarts of my family. I’ve had my trusty Logitech G502 for years, and I love its feel and versatility. I also have a wireless Aerox 3, which is in many ways as simple as a mouse but is lightweight at 68 grams. So it’s a rather strange feeling to unbox the Lift 2, with the Ergo variant weighing 61 grams and then the Symm variant weighing in at just 58 grams. Both feel very light.
Design-wise, they are similar. All black with barely visible logo on the top and a small logo on the front. In addition to the usual buttons on the top, there are two classic thumb buttons on the side, and the scroll wheel feels great on the comfortable ribbed surface. The main difference between the two versions I tested is that the Ergo is the ergonomic and slightly larger version, while the Symm is fully symmetrical and better suited for left-handed users. The Ergo is a bit taller and has more thumb room on the sides so you get a firmer grip. After using it for a while, switching to the Symm, I first thought that the lighter Symmetric variant would feel better in the long run. But a few days later, the opposite happened. If you don’t have small hands, an ergonomic hand will feel better as the hand rests more on the mouse and hugs it, whereas a symmetrical hand, with a significantly lower profile and lighter weight, certainly feels very smooth , but too small for me personally.

The technical specifications are as follows – Both have an 8000 Hz refresh rate and optical sensors with a maximum 26,000 DPI, and the buttons should last for 100 million clicks. These have a two meter cable as they are wired mice.
Neither in terms of design nor functionality, they really feel all that exciting or unique, and they really get lost in the crowd. For example, they chose to save weight by “hollowing out” the bottom of the mouse, rather than the popular honeycomb design found on my Aerox 3. From a purely design perspective, this is obviously just a matter of taste, but the fact is that these mice from NZXT largely look like a completely ordinary anonymous mouse. I also think it feels rather plasticky, but I like the ribbing on the sides which provides good grip.
You can determine the DPI in five steps via NZXT’s own CAM program, and if you have other equipment it’ll certainly be a smooth loop to collect everything there. Here you can of course also decide which quick commands the different buttons should have.
I really don’t have much to say about the Ergo or Symm models. They are simple mice that don’t make much noise. I think the light weight is a big plus and if you also like the design or own other gadgets from the same brand, then consider it the main reason to check them out. The reason the rating stays where it is is that I just think there are better alternatives out there that are also cheaper. My own trusty G502 feels sturdier, more comfortable, and has more features for a few hundred bucks that these don’t touch, you’re just putting yourself in a price range with a lot of options, but not really much Anything special to stand out.
