N’zérékoré hospital: reinforced sorting service, increasing attendance rate

The first case of the reappearance of the Ebola virus disease was detected at N’Zérékoré hospital before the Gueckédou laboratory confirmed the results of the samples taken from the patient.

At the main entrance of the hospital, the health control system against the new coronavirus had made it possible to isolate a potential patient and his people contacted last January.

In order to ensure the safety of nursing staff, that of patients and visitors, the sorting service had to strengthen its system.

“The service operates 24 hours a day and the agents who work there have been trained with the support of partners. We put a group of three teams working in rotation. We don’t let any suspect go through the door ”, argued Dr Kaba Keita, director of the regional hospital.

Systematic hand washing, temperature measurement and compulsory wearing of masks are measures to which every citizen is subjected before entering the hospital grounds.

To prevent and control possible infections, the hospital services are now sprayed or disinfected every two weeks by a team from the Red Cross. This made it possible to maintain the attendance rate of the center, according to the performance table.

It should be remembered that the vaccination campaign against Ebola launched by the health authorities had been extended to the nursing staff of the regional hospital.
