All runners who want to participate in the 2022 races of New York Road Runners, (NYRR) will be required to show proof of complete vaccination against COVID-19, NYRR announced Monday.

The decision follows the increase in variants and cases of COVID and is made in collaboration with medical and public health experts and state and local government officials. The new health and safety protocol will begin with the event NYRR Midnight Run on December 31 and will continue with the other races.

All participants will be required to show proof of the full vaccination series authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) emergency use authorization or on the World Organization’s emergency use list. Health (WHO).

Runners who have already signed up for a 2022 race will have the option of receiving a refund or gift card or donating their race entry fee to NYRR youth and community programs.
