NEW YORK – A man is wanted in New York for ambushing a woman and attempting to rape her on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
A 33-year-old woman walking down a Manhattan street was grabbed from behind by a man on an electric scooter and dragged into a secluded area, where the man attempted to rape her, New York police said Thursday.
According to police, she was walking down West 69th Street shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday when the stranger ambushed her. He then pulled her off the street, out of sight of anyone who was walking or driving at the time, police say.
The man fled on an electric scooter after the attack. Police released surveillance footage showing him running away after the woman stumbled up some stairs, appearing disoriented.
The woman was treated at the scene for scratches and lacerations to her body.
The search for this suspect comes as the NYPD searches for another man linked to multiple violent sexual assaults in Manhattan. Two of them occurred within the span of an hour on Saturday. Cops just added a third May incident to the pattern this week.
