NEW YORK – The New York City Hate Crimes Task Force launched an investigation after two men allegedly threatened a 17-year-old with a knife while yelling homophobic and anti-Semitic insults at him.
Police say the teen was at a gas station on Avenue U in Brooklyn on Wednesday, Oct. 20, when two men in a burgundy Ford pickup approached him. One of the men yelled insults at the victim from inside the truck and the other got out of the vehicle, showed a knife while threatening the teenager.
No injuries were reported, police said.
The two men then fled in their vehicle on Mill Avenue.
Authorities released photos of the men Tuesday searching for them. Anyone with information about the men or the incident should call the Stop Crime Hotline at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
