NEW YORK – A New York City Police (NYPD) officer was injured after trying to arrest a man in Manhattan, authorities announced.
According to the report, several uniformed men were assigned to the scene in Midtown, Manhattan, at around 12:10 pm Monday, to take into custody an individual who was being wanted for past crimes. The 50-year-old suspect was inside a car at the time.
At that moment, the report says, one of the uniformed men left the patrol car to approach the suspect’s vehicle in order to make him get out of the car. The suspect refused to follow the officer’s orders and drove the vehicle causing the uniformed man who was near the car to be hit.
The uniformed man suffered minor injuries that include pain in the back and ankle and bruises on the body.
The suspect fled the scene on West 45th Street and Eighth Avenue, and then allegedly got off at 50th Street and headed for the sitself.
This is a case under investigation. It is unknown what the suspect’s crimes are and if he has already been captured.
