An elderly woman was rescued alive by NYPD from the frigid waters of the Hudson River on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and a body was found floating on a beach in Queens, in two separate incidents in New York Bay.
Yesterday afternoon a person was found dead in the water in Rockaway Beach, Queens. The body was found floating in the area of 377 Beach 92nd St. around 2:30 p.m. Friday, according to the FDNY. The person did not have any signs of trauma, he noted. Pix11. No additional information was immediately available regarding her name, age or gender. The forensic medicine (OCME) must determine the cause and time of death.
Previously New York police officers jumped into the icy Hudson River the night of March 21, reported yesterday Daily News. The harrowing moment was captured by a body camera video disclosed by Police Station 20.
Witnesses told officers that the woman jumped into the water and “isn’t moving,” according to the video. But police officers Edward Groger, Victor Mak and Jasmine Brown managed to save her as she clung to the rocks.

The unidentified 61-year-old woman was rushed to Mount Sinai West Hospital. in critical but stable condition. “She is alive today thanks to her heroic actions,” the NYPD said, recognizing the work of the officers who jumped into the water and were later helped by firefighters.
In early March, a passenger was rescued from the Hudson River in front of the St. George (NYC) terminal after falling overboard from the Staten Island ferry. In February, two women were found dead floating in the Hudson River, just days apart.
