NEW YORK — An NYPD police officer was shot in the arm Tuesday morning after encountering two people dressed all in black in the Bronx, according to senior law enforcement officials.
The incident occurred in Prospect Avenue y East 183 Street shortly after 3 a.m.
According to senior law enforcement officials, police detained two individuals dressed all in black, and that’s when one of them displayed a firearm and exchanged shots with the officer.
The officer, who is assigned to the 48th Precinct, was shot in the left arm and was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, with non-serious injuries.
The two individuals were not injured.
A 16-year-old youth was apprehended at East 187 Street and Southern Boulevard and taken into custody and a firearm was recovered without further incident. Police are currently searching for the other individual dressed entirely in black.
