NYPD Options Program: Empowering Young People through Art, Music, and Virtual Reality Workshops

Through its Options program, the New York Police Department (NYPD) is offering workshops in art, music, computers, job search and even virtual reality, to young people between 11 and 19 years old.

You will also be able to learn to interact with uniformed personnel in different scenarios.

Sergeant Jhonny Núñez Cabrera, of the NYPD, explained that young people can learn to navigate the Internet and use basic programs such as Microsoft Word.

Other available activities are associated with music, art and acquiring skills to enter the world of work. For example: how to dress for an interview, when to say no, when to say yes and what you should put in your resume.

As if that were not enough, the Options program offers a virtual reality (VR) session, where they have the opportunity to experience different scenarios and learn how to behave. Some have to do with bullying or drugs.
