A New York City police officer woke up rudely on Saturday morning when he found that he had been shot in the head.
The agent had decided to take a nap in his personal car between two shifts.
According to what one of his colleagues told the New York Daily News, the man had finished work by 2 a.m. He was supposed to resume at 7 a.m.
As the rain woke him up at around 6:15 a.m., he noticed that the window of his vehicle was broken and blood was flowing from his head.
The man was taken to the Presbyterian hospital where the bullet fragment was removed from his skull. He should get away with it without significant after-effects.
New York City’s new mayor and former police officer Eric Adams reacted to the event.
“We are not a city of chaos. We are not a city where violence reigns, ”he said.
An investigation has been opened to shed light on the exact circumstances of this event.
According to new NYPD chief commissioner Keechant Sewell, the officer did not appear to be personally targeted.
