NYPD Officer Shot and Wounded in Queens Neighborhood, Search for Suspect Underway

NEW YORK. This afternoon, an NYPD officer was shot and wounded in a Queens neighborhood.

NYPD confirmed to Univision 41 that one of their was injured at 8855 161 Street, in Jamaica, Queens, outside a building that appears to be a homeless shelter.

The officer was shot in the leg and was transported to Jamaica Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

K-9 units are on the scene, searching for the suspect.

Police are blocking traffic at Kew Gardens and Jamaica Avenue.

The officer’s identity has not been released until his family is notified.

The investigation is still in development.

It was explained that agents specializing in each of the stolen brands went to investigate the Canal Street shops where they were sold, to confirm that they were counterfeit products.

Benjamin Gurley, one of the directors of the NYPD operation, explained that this business would seem to only affect big designers and their brands, but in reality it affects the final consumer, as it is part of organized crime.

Complaints from the community, police said, led them to Canal Street, where they arrested five people for selling handbags, sunglasses and other products replicating exclusive designer brands.
