NYPD investigates execution-style murder of mother in Brooklyn – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – The woman accused of shooting a Brooklyn woman in the neck over the summer was detained by police and arrested nearly 1,000 miles from the crime scene.

New York Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said the suspect in the execution of the victim in Crown Heights in August was taken into custody in Jacksonville, Florida.

Surveillance video of the shooting released by police showed a woman in black leggings getting out of a parallel parked white sedan and casually shooting Delia Johnson in the head while chatting with a group of people on a Brooklyn step.

The attacker calmly walked back to the car with her bag over her shoulder and drove off, police said. Johnson was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.

The 42-year-old victim’s brother told the Daily News that he believes the attacker followed Johnson from a funeral in the neighborhood the two had attended.

“She was at an earlier night funeral for an old neighborhood friend to pay her respects, and then this happened,” said Mathis Johnson, 47. “It was horrible. That lady executed my sister. “

Relatives said Johnson was an entrepreneur and the mother of a 17-year-old daughter. His mother, Delia Barry, told our sister network NBC 4 New York: “I’m in a lot of pain, I’m numb … trying my best to hold back, but the carnage, that’s what it was.”
